Mrs. Yvonne Dotson, 86, has lived a life filled with resilience and love. She was born into a sharecropping family in Stanton, Tennessee, and, from an early age, faced significant challenges. When her mother passed away, Yvonne, only 16, took on a pivotal role in raising her 14 younger siblings. Her journey has shaped her into a dedicated, nurturing figure, with family at the heart of her life.
After years spent raising her own family in Memphis, Yvonne’s health led her back to Stanton, closer to her sisters but without the resources to maintain her independence. Feonix, made possible by the support of Ford Philanthropy, provided her with transportation in Haywood County, enabling her to attend healthcare appointments and run essential errands.
“I’m so happy to be back near my family, but I also need to take care of myself,” Yvonne says.
“With Feonix’s help, I’ll be able to get to my doctor’s appointments and take care of what I need without burdening anyone.” Thanks to the generosity of Ford Philanthropy, whose mission is to move people forward and upward, Feonix has become more than just a service for Yvonne—it’s a path to dignity, independence, and a fulfilling life.
