Kenneth, a senior living in Lancaster, TX, reached out to the North Texas Transportation Assistance Hub (NTXTAH) in July with an urgent need: reliable transportation to dialysis and other essential medical appointments. Living in the southern part of Dallas County, where transportation resources are scarce, Kenneth faced significant obstacles. Using a cane for mobility, he found it challenging to reach his treatments, and with a fixed income, private transportation services were far too costly.
For dialysis patients like Kenneth, regular treatments are vital. Missing a session could have severe, even life-threatening consequences. Understanding this, the NTXTAH team quickly assessed his needs and identified several free transportation options through their network of partners. One of these was Brother Bill’s Helping Hand (BBHH), a community partner that NTXTAH connected Kenneth with to facilitate regular, free trips to his dialysis center. Through the NTXTAH Catch a Ride platform, Kenneth now has access to dependable transportation from trusted providers, helping him maintain his health and independence.
Kenneth expresses deep gratitude for the support NTXTAH has provided. “The service has helped me so much,” he shares. “I am very thankful for the services provided to me.”
His experience demonstrates the power of community partnerships, such as those with Brother Bill’s Helping Hand who make services like the NTXTAH possible.
