When you meet Rochella Tate, the first thing you notice is her warm smile and the way her presence instantly makes you feel at ease. A natural conversationalist, Rochella has always believed in the power of connection—whether she’s behind the wheel or speaking words of encouragement to a young person finding their way in life.
Before joining Feonix – Mobility Rising, Rochella spent time driving for Lyft, where she discovered just how much she enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life. But for her, it was never just about getting someone from Point A to Point B—it was about making the journey meaningful. Between sharing uplifting stories, listening to the concerns of her passengers, and offering a comforting word when needed, Rochella quickly became known as more than just a driver; she was a listener, a mentor, and a friend on the road.
Her commitment to helping others runs deep. Outside of driving, Rochella runs a nonprofit, helping mothers, and ministers to young people, guiding them with wisdom, compassion, and faith. She believes that the right words at the right time can change the direction of someone’s life, and she carries that philosophy into every interaction—whether in a church pew, a community event, a youth meeting, or the front seat of her car.
On July 16, 2025, Rochella joined Feonix’s Volunteer Force—and wasted no time making an impact. In her very first week, she completed 11 rides, quickly becoming a familiar face to riders who now look forward to her thoughtful conversations and genuine care. Since then, she has provided a total of 81 rides—each one delivered with the same kindness and dedication she is known for.
For many of the community members she serves, Rochella is more than transportation—she is encouragement in motion. Her passengers know they will be greeted with a friendly smile, a safe and comfortable ride, and, often, an inspiring conversation to brighten their day.
At Feonix, we are grateful for volunteers like Rochella who go above and beyond. Her dedication is a shining example of how one person’s time, talent, and heart can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We could use more volunteers like her—individuals who see driving not just as a service, but as a calling to lift up their community, one ride at a time.
