PROJECT GOAL
In 2017, Winnebago County, WI area employers recently reported a talent shortage of 8-11% relative to their objectives for further business growth in the region. When looking to area residents who need work and could potentially be the right candidates for local employers, a study revealed that inadequate transportation resources restrict 28% of people looking for work.
Since the fall of 2018, Feonix has worked with local leaders to bring together transportation options that meet the needs of individuals without the ability to afford transportation.
The program’s primary focus is on improving access to employment. Since April of 2021, the program has provided almost 5,000 rides to and from employment. In the future, the collaborative plans to expand the program to meet other needs, including healthcare and food insecurity. Feonix operates our volunteer driver program in this area. Those volunteers serve as a significant transportation source for the program to save cost and sustain the program in the future.
