PROJECT GOAL
Insufficient access to transportation can limit healthcare access, which impacts long term wellbeing. When transportation is inadequate, it is not only visits to the doctor that are delayed, but also appointments with social services and access to medicine, nutrition, employment, education, and more.
Feonix – Mobility Rising, through grant money awarded by Toyota Financial Services, operates the Wellness program, which increases Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) to improve conditions of the patient’s social determinants of health. Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.
WE PUT SUPPORTS IN PLACE
Through Wellness, sponsored by Toyota Financial Services, Feonix operates a team of nationally accredited NEMT drivers who close the gap on transportation access for individuals who cannot otherwise find rides to the activities that are essential health maintenance. The program is supported by a driver ecosystem, a fleet of vehicles, volunteer drivers, a mobile app, and a call center to coordinate bookings.
Feonix is on a mission to alleviate the transportation burden faced by over 5.7 million Americans who experience a transportation-related delay in healthcare annually. Wellness offers transportation assistance in urban and rural areas, covering approximately 11,000 square miles in the Coastal Bend region alone.
